INGREDIENTS
- 2 2/3 cups water
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup grits stone ground, quick cooking, or regular
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 ¼ cup low-fat cheddar cheese, shredded
DIRECTIONS
- Wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
- Bring water, butter and salt to boil in a medium saucepan.
- Add the grits to the boiling water using a whisk. Lower the heat to simmer and cover the pot. Cook grits according to package directions.
- When grits are done, stir in black pepper, garlic powder and cheese. Stir until blended.
- Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.
