Apple Crisp

INGREDIENTS


  • 5 medium apples
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup + 2 Tablespoons whole wheat flour, divided
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Vegetable Oil Cooking Spray
  • ½ stick cold, unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups quick oats

 

DIRECTIONS


  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Wash your hands well with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  3. Wash and cut apples in half, lengthwise. Remove stem, core apple with a spoon and cut into slices.
  4. Place sliced apples in a large bowl and toss with lemon juice.
  5. Stir 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour, and cinnamon into the sliced apples.
  6. Spray 9 x 13 baking dish with vegetable oil cooking spray.
  7. Pour apple mixture into baking dish. Spread evenly.
  8. In a medium bowl, combine remaining brown sugar, flour, oats, and butter cut into small pieces. Use a fork to mix in butter until crumbly.
  9. Spread mixture over apples. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes until slightly browned or bubbly.
  10. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
  11. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.
