Wash your hands well with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
Heat a large pot over medium heat and cook ground beef until no longer pink, 5-10 minutes. Cut onion into small pieces and add to pot with cooked meat. Cook until tender, 5 minutes. Drain mixture and return to the pot.
Add beans, hominy, tomatoes, taco seasoning, and dry ranch seasoning. Stir and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
